JUSTICES' JUSTICE.
Sir, —In Thursday's Herald there is a report of a case where justices at Invercargill fined a ruffian five pounds for skinning a rabbit alive, which ran back to its hole 30vds. away after this treatment. I am afraid tho law does not permit such a ruffian, to be flogged, but he richlv deserves such a punishment. I should like to give the justices a month's hard labour for their iniquitous sentence of a fine of five pounds. George Mac Murray.
