FEWER MARRIAGES.
RETURNS FOR' JANUARY. AUCKLAND VITAL STATIS'. ICS. Auckland vital statistics for January show decreases in the number of births and marriages and an increase in the number of deaths, compared with the cor responding month last year. Births totalled 300, as against 330, and the number of deaths was 132, compared with 110 during January, 1927. Tho number of marriage licences issued totalled 163 and 40 of the marriages were performed by the registrar. During January last year the number of marriage licences issued was 172, 48 being for marriages by the registrar. FIGURES FOR HAMILTON. MORE BIRTHS REGISTERED. The vital statistics for Hamilton for January are as follows, the figures for tho corresponding period last \iir being given in parentheses:—Births, 50 (45); marriages, 18 (11); deaths, 19 (16).
