DEVASTATING FIRE.
TOWN ALMOST DESTROYED. QUEENSLAND CENTRAL DISTRICT. (Received January 81, 1P.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. BRISBANE, Jan. 31. An outbreak of five has practically wiped out the town of Alpha, in the central district of Queensland. Twelve shops and the only two hotels in the town have befn destroyed. There was no water supply to fight the outbreak, which soon became, out of control. The damage will run into many thousands of pound*.
