DISASTER IN BURMA.
DEATH-ROLL. INCREASES. FIFTY-FOUR KNOWN FATALITIES. A. and N.Z. DELHI. Jan. 30. Fifty-four persons are known to be dead as a result of the disaster which occurred at the week-end, when a mail train crashed from a bridge into a river about 100 miles from Rangoon. The total may exceed 100. The victims include many Burmese priests. The rear carriages of the train remained on the line, through the snapping of the vacuum brake, otherwise the deathroll would have been appalling.
