WATER SUPPLY.
Sir,—l notice the City Council is con- ffpll sidering going far afield to increase our |p| water supply. This would prove a very r costly and lone; undertaking, especially | §fl as there is a splendid Supply running to waste, viz., the Anawhata River, which adjoins the Waitakere dam and could bo pumped into the dam at much less cost. All oar mains lead from the Waitakem. Why not make use of them ? Ratepayer. . 3 Sir, —Re the shortening water supply: ' while we are Irving to be Conscientious in s our restrittad daily use of water in this good apartment house (which is our bouriden duty)., and especially in the daily tub—the "everse of pleasure t!m weather—imagine our disgust at seeing a resident, not far away, fresly using a hose to wash doxvn the outside of his house, and another using the same to water his tomato patch ? As there ar» always people in a community who are selfish, or thoughtless, surely in a season ' like this an inspector should be appointed to ride round and impress the warning of the authorities to conserve the Water supply, upon every suburb or district. Common Sense.
