DEMAND AT INVERCARGILL. OFFICIAL RANGE OF PRICES. [BY TELEGRAPH,—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] INVERCARGILL, Saturday. Prices at the wool sale yesterday were appreciably higher than those paid at the recent Wanganui sale, while the record price for the Dominion for this season was secured for a line of halfbred . ewe, which made 27d. Medium crossbred made from 15d to 18d, fine crossbred 18d to 20d, halfbred 20d to 25d, super lots to 27d, hoggets, medium, 15d to 17d, fine 18d to 20d, halfbred to 22jd. Following is the official range of prices, those for the previous salo, last March, being given for the purpose of comparison :

Tomlinson, 300 shares each. NEW SOUTH WALES LOAN. LONDON ISSUE OF £3,000,000. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Jan. 28. The Assistant State Treasurer, Mr. B. S. B. Stevens, announces that the Government intends to raise a loan of £3,000,000 in London at, an early date, to facilitate the construction of the harbour bridge, the underground railway and other important public works. FALSIFYING; SCRIP. HEAVY LOSSES IN EAST. Mr. F. 0. Steel, chairman of the Sydney Stock Exchange, has warned brokers that several cases of fraudulent altera tions of share certificates in tin and rubber companies have been reported to him from the East, says the Sydney Morning Herald. The alterations, ho said, had been made by persons who had gained possession of certificates indicating that they held a small number of shares in such companies, and had then used chemicals to erase the number of shares mentioned to substitute a considerably larger number. Mr. Steel said ho believed that more than £50.000 had been lost in the Federated Malay States by investors, who had been misled into buying these bogus certificates. LONDON WOOL SALES. (Received January 29, 5.5 p.m.) A. arid N.Z. LONDON, Jan. 28. At the wool sales yesterday 8756 bales were sold, of which 5256 were Australian and 3012 New Zealand. There was an excellent selection of all classes and the tone was strong and bidding brisk. In general prices were very firm. The following New Zealand clips realised the prices stated: —St, top price 27d, average 23d; HW/TR, 21£ d and 19d; Awapapa. 22d and 20d. HASTINGS RAM FAIR. [by telegraph.—press association.] HASTINGS, Saturday. At the stud ram fair this morning the demand for Romneys was poor, only four bringing taore than 20gns. The highest figure was 55gns and the next 45gns. Only four Lincolns were offered and all were passed in at lOgns. Southdowu3 were mora attractive, but the bidding wis not bright, the highest prices being ,51gns and SOgna. Sheep were passed In at from to 41kiis.
