WORK AT ARAPUNI.

FILLING THE LAKE BASIN, COMPLETION TO-MORROW. WATER NEARING SPILLWAY, {J3X TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Friday. The water in the Arapuni dam lake is expected to flow over the spillway weir on Sunday and it is anticipated that 10 chains below the weir a waterfall equalling the Huka Falls will be created. The water behind the dam is now within a few feet of the maximum height of 320 ft. above datum. A fall of about 50 tons of stone occurred about 100 ft. above the tunnel intake on Wednesday night, but no interference resulted.
