KING MOA'S XMAS PARTY.

He-sent fairies and robins to invite the visitors to his party. He asked Mr. Kiwi and his wile, Mr. and Mrs. Hare and their hfthies Mr. and Mrs. Sparrow, Mr. 'and Mrs Morepork, Mr. and Mrs. Tuatara Liiard, the Wild Duck famdy Mr and Mrs, Wild Cat, who premised to behave and not eat the birds, Mr. ana Mrs. Pukeko, Mr. Tui and Mr. Bellbird, who were to provide the »uuaic, wjo xvuddid family and the frogs. He asked the flowers of the forest, arid the gaily-coi-cured butterflies to decorate his palace and make it look pretty for the party. glow-worms all capje to lights at night, and wasn't it a happy day when all the guests arrived? The glow-worms didn't seem so bright, and suddenly King Moa went to the tree and looked closely at it. Everybody stood in amazement waiching him an« he said, " Lovdy news." They all looked inside the tree arid saw twelve pretty little people dancing in a ring. " They must be the fairies," said the visitors. Then King Moa said, what is that 1 hear?" He heard a sweet tune coming from the tree, the fairies singiug "A Happy Christmas to you allDance under here, The trees so tali, All of you corns To"the fairy balL" The elves sang, too, and King Moa said, " It is time to go to bed," so they all held hands and wished King Moa a happy Christmas, thanked him for the party and went home to bed.
