WOMAN FOUND DROWNED.
ILL-HEALTH AND DEPRESSION [ISV TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] THAMES. Thursday. An inquest into the circumstances of the death yesterday of Mrs. Fanny Elizabeth Coldicutt, aged 43, was conducted at the courthouse this afterfioon by the coroner, Mr. W. H, Lucas. Evidence was given of the finding of the body by a number of school children on the foreshore below Richmond Street at 11 a.m. The tide was full and the body had boen washed up to shallow water. 'Restorative measures were applied without success. Mrs. R. S. Davis, Richmond Street, said she saw deceased going in the direction of the Thames .South railway station at 10.30 a.m. She exchanged greetings with deceased and concluded she was running to board a train duo to leave the station M about that time. Edith Lavinin Beddy, sister of deceased, said she sa,w her sister proceeding in the direction of Scale,y Street at 9.30 a.m. Deceased had recently suffered a norvouij breakdown but her condition during the past few days had not been abnormal. Witness could not explain, how deceased came to get into the water. Sergeant A. McDonnell said that death in his opinion had been caused by drowning. The coroner said the evidence showed that deceased had suffered ill-health for the past three months. His verdict was that deceased committed suicide by drowning while mentally depressed.
