NEW COMPANIES.

AUCKLAND REGISTRATIONS. FIGURES FOR THE YEAR. LARGE AMOUNTS INVOLVED. The number of companies registered in Auckland during the present year totalled 266, as compared with 260 in the previous year and 234 in 1925. Of this year's total 218 were privata and 48 were public concerns. The total capital involved was £2,147,488, of which amount £932,488 was nominally invested in private and £1,215,000 in public companies. The total amount nominally invested was over £1,000,000 less than the total last year. The largest company to be registered during the year was the Challenge Phosphate Company, Limited, with a capital of £250,000. The second - largest was Great Tasman Forests, Limited, with a capital of £150,000. There were two companies with capitals of £IOO,OOO, five with capitals between £50,000 and £IOO,OOO, and 43 with capitals between £IO,OOO and £50,000. The number of companies with capitals of over £50,000 was six less than last year. The motor industry, including several transport companies, this year again absorbed a large amount of capital, totalling £214,030, as compared with £230,870 in the previous year. The capital nominally invested in land development schemes totalled £145,360, the largest companies being public concerns with capitals of £250,000 and £IOO,OOO. Eleven mining companies were formed, five public and six private. The capital involved, £132,300, was approximately £70,000 less than last year. Afforestation enterprises were represented by a single public concern with a capital of £150,000. The aggregate capital of two new sawmilling concerns was £6.500. The fiaxmilling industry was represented by one new company, which called for a capital of £SOOO. The most important new amusement enterprise of the year was the Majestic Theatre, Wellington, with a capital of £BO,OOO.
