ARREST OF OFFICIAL.
CHARGE OF THEFT MADE. FUNDS OF CUSTOMS OFFICE. A LARGE AMOUNT INVOLVED, Defalcation!- amounting to £IOOO were alleged in the Police Court yesterday., when an employee in the Customs Department in Auckland was charged with stealing £lO 12s Sd the property of the department Chief-Detective Cummmgs asked for a remand until December 15. Accused, who had been arrested the previous day, was married and had two children. He had been suspended from his employment. Mr. Cummings said a total amount of £IOOO was involved The magistrate. Mr. _W. R. McKean, remanded accusid as requested, and an application for the suppression of accused's name was granted. Bail was fixed at £3OO
