LATE MR. P. G. MORGAN.

TRIBUTE TO HIS WORK. The wonderful influence exercised by the late Sir.- P. G. Morgan in the sphere of geological survey in the Dominion is given in a sketch of his career by on* 1 who was closely connected with him in his work, as director of New Zealand 1 * Geological Survey. The director himself was the author of a large number of articles pub lished in New Zealand and abroad. Mr. Morgan had tremendous energy and never seemed to rest. His memory was remarkable and his mind was stored with an astonishing array of facts. By the men of his field parties he was acclaimed "the whitest of the white." He always shared fully their hardships and their work, while his unfailing supply of quiet humour was an invaluable asset in camp life and routine.
