MILFORD STORAGE CULVERT. bAyswater fire-fighting. The Takapnna Borough Council met Last evening, the Mayor, Mr. J. W. Williamson, presiding. For the purpose of expediting the issue of the proclamation for the acquiring of the necessary iiand for the Mil ford storage culvert, on the recommendation of the Works Committee, the engineer was authorised to proceed to Wellington. The Bayswater-Belmont Progressive Association wrote asking for information regarding the control of the fire reel and other gear at Feaver's corner. The matter was referred to the Firs-fighting Committee, The need for a bell or similar contrivance at Bayswater wa» urged by Mr. A. K. Wilkie, and was referred to the committee. ( The desire for better access to Milford Beach by w#f of the emba.'sJanent and the new bridge at Inga Ho&d was urged by the Milford Progressive itssociation, in a letter. It was decided to reply that the matter was receiving consideration. A protest against the expenditure of £4150 on public conveniencer. was forwarded by the Bayswater-Etimont Progressive Association. In the opinion of the association, a temporary or modified scheme was necessary. No action was taken. After considerable discussion it was decided to donate £5 5s toward the expenses of entertaining the visiting crews in connection with the CorawaJl Cup contest, four councillors opposing the motion. t v The sum of £25 was allocated for the provision of uniforms for the Takapnna Municipal B^nd. It was decided that the renumbering of houses tn the borough could not bo undertaken at present.
