VITAL STATISTICS.
ELEVEN MONTHS' FIGURES. DECREASE IN MARRIAGES. A decrease in the number of marriages is the most noteworthy feature in the vital statistics for the 11 months ended November 30, compared with the corres ponding period of last year. The number of marriage licences issued this year shows a falling-off of 99 compared with last year. Births and deaths show slight decreases. Following are the figures for the past 11 months, last year's returns being given in parentheses:—Births, 3261 (3269); deaths, 1656 (1678); niarri.ige licences issued, 1844 (1943); marriages by registrar, 449 (478). The figures for November and the corresponding month of last year are: — Births, 331 (300); deaths, "127_ (138); marriage licences issued, 191 (183); marriages by registrar, 41 (45).
