LATE MR. P. G. MORGAN.
" LOSS TO DOMINION." The following appreciation of the work of the late director of geological survey, Mr. P. G. Morgan, has been given in Wellington by Dr. E. Marsden, secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. He said: — "Mr. Morgan was a most methodical man and had been working very hard at geological survey, and it must be remembered that this work in our country is only half done. Time will show the value of his labours, for every bulletin that he turned out has been most, carefully scrutinised and there is no doubt that they are solid and that his work is monumental. Ho had published practically all his field observations and ho has been preparing a fault map, which was practically completed, and will be of great value to engineers. His position will be hard to fill During recent years ho had been studying the question of geological formation associated with oil, and here, too, ho did good work."
