ANNUAL EXAMINATIONS.
THE MATRICULATION TESTS. THOUSAND LOCAL CANDIDATES. Hundreds of apprehensive scholars in all parts of the Dominion will enter on the ordeal of their first public examination when the University December examinations begin to-morrow. A total of 996 candidates, of whom 857 are entrants for the matriculation, and medical, dental and engineering preliminaries, will sit in Auckland. Following are the sub-centres for Auckland University College, Scots Hall, Auckland Girls' Grammar School, Girls' Grammar School, Epsom, and King's College. For Auckland' Centre the numbers of candidates are: Entrance scholarships, 56; intermediate mus. bac., 4: accountancy preliminary, 79; matriculation, medical, dental and engineering preliminary, and preliminary science for C.0.1'. in dental surgery, 857, divided as follows: General, 327; Auckland Grammar School, 215; Boys' Grammar School, Mount Albert, 113; Auckland Girls' Grammar School, 88; Girls' Grammar School, Epsom, 73; King's College, 4J. Forty-one supervisors will be employed for the whole or part of the time. For the Dominion there are 60 centres, those nearest to Auckland being Whangarei, Dargaville, Helensville, Pukekohe, Thames, Paeroa, Waihi, Hamilton, and Cambridge.
