FLOWER SHOW.
FINE DISPLAY OF BLOOMS. The lounge of the Auckland Lyceum Club presented a charming spectacle yesterday afternoon when the gardening circle held its fourth annual exhibition of flowers. Bowls of beautiful stocks, rosea and sweet peas were effectively arranged on tables, and on the stage was a profusion of other flowers, and plants, the whole grouping and colouring effect being delightful. A dainty Early Victorian basket was suspended from the top of the stage, filled with blue and white larkspur and asparagus fern which fell gracefully over the side, forming a (ilmy veil of greenery round the basket. The exhibition was opened by Mrs. \V. H. Parkes, president of the Lyceum Club, who was presented with a beautiful bouquet of pink and white sweet peas, carnations and maidenhair fern. Mrs. Parkes congratulated the convenor of the gardening circle, Mrs. A. Kidd, and the members, on the fine display of flowers, and said the members were going to ask the gardening enthusiasts to decorate the tables and room when the club had the honour of entertaining Mrs. Amery at tea.
