EXTENSIVE SMUGGLING.
TRAINLOADS OF WINE. DISCOVERY IN FRANCE. (Received November 20, 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. PARIS, Nov. 29. French customs have discovered that French and Spanish wines are being smuggled into Germany by the trainload. The wine is contained tu kegs, which are placed in tank cars. The latter are filled up with industrial alcohol and passed as such by the customs officials. It is believed this practice has been carried out for three years, and that wine worth £1,000.000 has been smuggled from the country.
