INFORMATION FOR PARENTS. AN OFFICIAL PAMPHLET. [BY TEI.ECIIAI'ir. — SPECIAL REPORTER. ] WELLING TON, Tuesday. The Education Department has heen authorised by the Minister of Education, Hon. U. A. Wright, to issue a pamphlet on vocational guidance. 'J lie Minister, in an interview to-day, said the pamphlet would be given to all Standard VI. pupils in primary schools, and would contain a description of each type of post-primary sciujol in the Do minion, with an indication of the courses of instruction provided there. The pam phlet would contain, also, a brief descrip tion of the avenues of employment open for boys and girls after they leave school, and a clear indication of the wages paid in connection with each occupation. "The aim of the pamphlet is to enable parents and teachers first of all to direct tho child's post-primary studies so that they will be most profitable in relation to tho probable future occupation," added tho Minister. "It will also give the parents and children an indication of the prospects in each occupation. The information has been compiled by an officer of the Education Department, acting in cooperation with the Labour Department. The pamphlet does not profess to deal with the matter exhaustively, and will be ro vised from year to year. It is considered that the information will be invaluable to parents who are often very much in doubt what to do with their children after they leave the primary schools."
