WATERFRONT ACCIDENTS.
INJURIES TO TWO MEN. Two waterside workers were injured 01 the Auckland wharves yesterday morning. Mr. Carl Smitdorff, -iged 45, of 118, Grey's Avenue, slipped on the deck of the Athenic and dislocated his right hip. He was taken, by The St. John Ambulance to tho Auckland Hospital, where he is progressing favourably. A fracture of the rigSt thigh was sustained by Mr. Arthur Yates, aged 54, of Wright's Road, Point Chevalier, when he was struck by a-bale while working on the Kurow. Ho also, was taken to hospital by tho St. John Ambulance. His condition is not serious. The chief engineer of tho Northern Steamship Company's steamer Waipu, Mr. P. W. Pressley, who fell through a ventilator grating on to a boiler on the vessel on Sunday evening, ( underwent an X-rav examination at tlie Auckland Hospital yesterday morning. He is making good progress.
