SCHOONER DRIFTS ASHORE.

MISHAP AT WAITARA RIVER. REFLOATED ON RISING TIDE. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORK ESPONDENT. J NEW PLYMOUTH, Monday. The auxiliary schooner Aratapu, of 123 tons, until recently called the Zet,;i, ran aground about 40 yards outside the north wall at the mouth of the Waitara River at about 11.45 p.m on Saturday, after a particularly smart run of 30 hours from Greymouth The little vessel had just crossed the Waitara Bar, when the engine suddenly failed, and she drifted ashore north of the river mouth. Wh en the tide receded the Aratapu was left high but an hour and aquarter before full tide yesterday morning she was floated off under her own power and sailed up the river to the wharf. The water was fortunately smooth and the vessel was not damaged. Captain T. Henderson was in command of the Aratapu, which at the time of the mishap had a full cargo of coal and timber. The vessel is owned by Gaustad, McGonnell and Company.
