MOTOR REGULATIONS.
OPINION IN TAURANGA. i [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] TAURANGA, Saturday. At a special meeting of the Borough Council a communication was read from Mr. F. \V. Furkert, engineer-in-chief and Under-Secretary of the Public Works Department, forwarding regulations under the Motor Vehicles Act, prepared with a view to obtaining uniformity throughout New Zealand in motor-vehicle control A comprehensive report on the regulations was submitted by the borough inspector, Mr. R. Bambersy. The council reached the following decisions: — That tho lighting-up time be fixed at 15 minutes afer sunset in winter—April 1 to September 30—and half-an-hour during summer time—October 1 to March 31. That spotlights be not used in boroughs. That tho speed limit in wet weather be reduced to 20 miles an hour. That the use of chains or bars over metalled roads within boroughs bo prohibited. That tbo town clerk be instructed to writo to Mr. Furkert stating that the council agrees to tho proposed motor regulations, subject to the above amendments.
