PUPILS LEAVING SCHOOL.

AVENUES OF EMPLOYMENT. INFORMATION BEING SOUGHT. An effort <o secure more specific information than is at present available as to the number of pupils leaving school next month and the likely requirements of employers is to bo made by the executive committee recently elected at a conference called by tho Auckland University College and Chamber of Commerce. This committee is seeking to co-ordinate more closely the training of youth with the needs ot after-life. It is hoped that it will be possible to make the information available to parents and pupils before the end of the school year. Meanwhile, the committee requests parents to consider carefully the statement issued on Thuisday by the Chamber of Commerce. This drew attention to the present difficulty of youths finding employment and advised parents to prolong the period of their children's schooling until a more favourable situation emerged. The problem lias also been exercising educationists and the Education Department, recognising the difficulties, has announced that it will permit, pupils passing the sixth standard to remain at school for another yoar in a seventh standard.
