AUCKLAND WOOL CLIP.

FIRST SALE THIS WEEK, POSSIBILITY OF RECORD. THE LAST-MINUTE RUSH. There is every likelihood that the first Auckland wool sale, to commence next Friday, will make history so far as the Auckland Province is concerned. Ah t hough it was impossible to tell during the week-end the number of bales to b« offered, owing to the fact that large quailtitles of wool were pouring in from country districts, brokers state the number will possibly be a record for Auckland. If the sale commences on Friday evening it will probably continue most of Satuiday. The busiest and most animated quarters in Auckland on Saturday were the stores of the various companies. From early morning until evening horse and motor- tV : lomes bore their valuable burdens lo them. It was the last-minute rush, and hundreds of employees worked feverishly. To the layman, the task of sorting the wool out and arranging it attractively for the buyers appears a stupendous one. Not' one lot; of wool must lose its identity among hundreds cf others and the floor . space of course is limited. For months the sheepfarmers have been contemplating good cheques and many of them are expected to be present at the sale. Taking into consideration the more or less stable condition of the world's markets, .and the steady demand for wool from England and Continent, farmers . ' have been relieved, to an extent, of the - anxiety of greatly fluctuating prices. Thert is a tone of optimism abroad.
