WELLINGTON, Saturday The attendance at the Levin meeting today overtaxed the accommodation and the officials are faced with the necessity of providing more facilities for the nublio. An unusually large number of members of Parliament were present. A feature of the day was the success of the Awapuni trainer. J. Coyle. who saddled up tho first three winners. Mister Gamp, Some Lad and Desert Lad. In the Manakair Hurdles Vexatious was a hot favourite with Mister Gamp a fairly solid third choice. Backers of Vexatious lost money. Panchito fell at tho second fence when he and Maidos were well clear of Lady Faye. Master Gamp, Chrissarto and Panorama. Lady Faye headed Maidos six furlongs from home, while Mister Gamp and Vexations improved their positions. Mister Gamp led to tho last fence well clear of Vexatious, Chrissarto and Lady Faye. Vexatious failed to reach Mister Gamp by two lengths, with Chrissarto eight lengths away third. Panorama, Revel and Lady Faye followed at intervals. The winner was making his first appearance over hurdles and apparently takes kindly to fences. In the Weraroa Hack Handicap Kilmoyler was always first choice but it was a good betting race. Sneerer was left, being sideways on at the barrier rise. Lin Arlington, Excess and Kilmoj'ler led into the back straight but Archon moved up fast and at the half mile post led Excess and Lin Arlington, with Some Lad, Bank Draft and Kilmoyler in a bunch next. Archon, Some Lad and Landlord were tho first to turn for home clear of Excess and Bank Draft. Some Lad did best in tho short run in and beat Excess by two lengths. Archon was a length and a-half away third. Lin Arlington was fourth and then came Bank Draft, Landlord, Archon and Kilmoyler. Somo Lad is buck to his best again. Desert Lad Wins by a Head. In tho Maiden Race Royal Picture, Shining Star, Dosert Lad a,nd Broadacro were all solidly backed. When thoy settled down Rash was out clear form Broadacre, Piano, Mark Mint and Shining Star, with Royal Picture moving up. At the turn Broadacro led Shining Star, Royal Picture, Plane and Desert Lad. Royal Picture was in front 200 yds. from home, but both Desert Lad and Piano finished very stoutly, Desert Lad beating Plane by a head. Broadacre was a head away third, a head in front of Royal Picture. Little QueeVi Borseline and Guide Light wore next. Somo Lad, who was making his first appearance in publio, is a three-year-old gelding by Acre from Innoladdo. The Mako Mako Hack Handicap saw Helotis favourite in a good betting race, but tho winnor turned up in Bissac who was at a very long price. She gave T. Metcalf his first ride in this island. Helotus began best from Rosebush, Bissac, Mandarine and Lady Cynthia with the rest strung out. Rosebush ran to the front inside » furlong but at the turn where Bissao was In charge from Oarrigallen. Rosebush and Handarina. M»ui

came through on the rails when the lenders swung wide and in a great finish Bissao beat Carrigallen* by a nose. Maui was a head away third, with Powhiri and Mandarine right up, almost in line with them. Bissao won well but Carrigallen and Maui both I ran solid races. ' In tho Levin Cup Paitonu was the eventual favourite, with fair support for Anolo and Waicullus, the three finishing as backed in the places. Waicullus led down the straight from Beaumont, Itouex, Royal Game, Kilmiss, Horomea. Anolo and Euphonium, with Paitonu last. Paitonu made a very fast run in tho back straight and with five furlongs to go was leading from Waicullus and Rouex, who were followed by Beaumont, Royal Game, Euphonium and Anolo. Paitonu turned for home well clear and although he was stopping at the end he beat Waicullus by a length Anolo was two lengths away third and at intervals came Euphonium. Tresliam, Joy Bird and Novar, with Rouex and Beaumont last. Paitonu put up a good performance and both Waicullus and Anolo ran very good races. Honna Wins Well. The Lake Hack Handicap saw Henna, Twink, Archon. Volplane and Vexatious practically equally backed. Irish Lad, Exhibition, Volplane, Inoe, Archon and Henna was the order passing the stands. Twink moved up to the lead with five furiongs to go from Irish Lad, Exhibition, Volplane. Archon and Henna. Twink was in front as they turned for home with Henna coming through. Henna came on and won well by a length and a-half from Twink, who beat Archon by three-quarters of a length. Vexatious was fourth, followed by Inoe and Irish Lad.

In the McDonald Memorial Handicap tho Decoy Bird—Lausanne bracket and Orcades carried nearly half the total investments. Mireusonta was soon out well clear frop Deluge, Royal Land, Alyson, Glen Innis and Lausanne. Racing for the turn Mireusonta was bowling along well clear of Deluge, Royal Land and Lausanne with Orcades moving up round her field. Orcades actually headed Mireusonta a furlong from home, but Mireusonta came again and beat Orcades by a long head. Deluge waa two and a-half lengths away and then came Lausanne, Glen Innis. and Royal Land. Mireusonta raced very well and was much too good at tho finish for Orcades. Lausanne again failed miserably. Decoy Bird is now owned by Dr. Gilmer and is trained at Trentham by J. McLaughlin. In the Hokio Hack Handicap Tho Raider and Eka carried the most money in tho best betting race of the day. Rosebush led out from tho barrier from Eka, Silver Tray, Carrigallen, Chips and Helotis. Eka raced past Rosebush at' the end of a furlong, their nearest attendants being Carrigallen, Chips, Helotis, Shining Star and The Raider. Eka was holding oil the opposition in the run in when Miss Pat came fast on the outßide to beat Eka by two lengths. Shining Star was a head away third, a head in front of Silver Tray. Carrigallen and Tho Raider were next. Miss Pat left her field at the finish. SPELL FOE COMMENDATION. NO AUCKLAND APPEARANCE. GIVEN REST FOR SIX MONTHS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. J WELLINGTON. Saturday Aucklanders can abandon hope of seeing Commendation in action at Ellerslie at the Auckland Cup Meeting. His trainer, George Jones staled at Levin to-day that the Limond gelding has just gone out for a six-months' spell at his owner's station at Dannevirke. Commendation has been showing decided signs of foot trouble and of late he has just been able to hofcble along. Jones now thinks that subsequent to the first race jn Sydney this adversely affected Commendation. The veteran rider, R. Lewis, gave it as his opinion after riding Commendation in a gallop at Randwick that his feet were troubling the gelding. Commendation will not be seen out again until next spring and then in Sydney.
