MEAT FOR THE NAVY.
MOST FROM DOMINIONS. OVER 80 PER CENT. OF TOTAL. (Received November 18, 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z.-Sun. LONDON. Nov. 17. It was stated in the Houso of Commons that of the meat supplied to the Navy in 1926 Britain supplied 1 per cent., the Dominions 83 per cent., and foreign countries 16 per cent. Part of the meat bought from foreign countries was bought at a time when Dominion supplies wero not obtainable. It is estimated the purchase of home meat exclusively would cost an additional £IO,OOO a month.
