BURGLARS RAID SHOP.
GOODS WORTH £2OO TAKEN.
STOCKINGS AND DRAPERY.
HOLES BORED IN A DOOR, [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.} CHEISTCHURCH, Friday. Burglars stole goods valued at about £2OO from the shop of Mr. J. T. Bisraan, draper, of Sea View Road, New Brighton, last night. Entrance was gained to the back yard of the shop by a narrow right-of-way. The bolted inch-thick door wan then attacked by a brace and bit. A hole was bored, but the cross-piece was struck, and the boring work was done lower down. With the accuracy and care of an expert carpenter, the man with the brace and bit cut 22 neat holes, each of an inch in diameter, to make an aperture 18inl long and 12in. wide. The panels cut out were uniform in length. It was a clever piece of craftsmanship, with an efficient tool. Once inside, the thieves became busy among the stock. Whole lines of silk stockings were taken, and several shirt* were chosen from each box. Samples of suits were stolen, and several dresses which Mrs. Bisman had just completed. Boxes of other goods were also removed. It was apparent that one of the thieves had tried on a pair of trousers, which had been discarded. A sum of £4 4s left in the till was taken.
