A DAINTY XMAS GIFT.

Below is a most quaint and unusual way of packing sweets, which is inspired by a pretty Greek custom of sending crystallised fruits and marrons glaces as gifts on fetes and birthdays. It looks liko a glorified " workman's dinner " packet and consists of three gifts in one, viz.—the sweets, tho two dishes containing them and tho pretty handkerchief in which they are tied up.

Procure two small glass or china dishes, fill the lower one with piled up sweets, and use tho other inverted as a cover. Stand the dishes in the middle of the handkerchief and draw up the ends into

tho centre of the top and tie all together with a dainty ribbon bow. Tho handkerchief shown on the model is inado from a 12in. square of palest pink georgetto upon which has been seamed a border of fine cream lace. In each corner a very tiny spray of seasonable flowers has been embroidered in natural colours, which gives it a delightful touch. Tho ribbon used to tie up the handkerchief at the top is a soft forget-me-not blue shado of velvet ribbon, an inch wide.
