OPOSSUM TRAPPING.
Sir,—ln your issue of November 11 in the report of the meeting of the council of the Auckland Acclimatisation. Society held at Hamilton on November 10, appeared a. statement bearing on regulations regarding the trapping of opossums. The statement, if made in the? form in -which it was printed, was not accurate, and I should, be glad if you would publish this letter correcting the erroneous impression which may have been given. The regulations were not completely redrafted, but a ~-number -of - alterations were made to .the, regulations ,in force -in . 1926.. Copies of. the regulations., wete printed, and issued to postmasters in order that a copy migTit be given to each pfersoh obtaining a' : licence/and* this was carried put by the postal officials. Tho number ofinfringements of the regulations was small, and the department decided to take no action jn the casss of skins not being in - the district in which they we'ire taken. • Cor.xk M. Gordon.
