AUCKLAND ROSE SHOW.
CLOSE OF EXHIBITION*
HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL DISPLAY.
The rose show of the Auckland Hop* ticultural Society concluded last evening in-the Town Hall concert chamber after a very successful two days of judging and display. The standard of the exhibits, particularly of the roses, is considered to bo tho highest yet attained by the society. The atter dance was vary factory. Two further awards were made ye®terday in the decorated table class. leading entries were both excellent, and the judges were unable to separate them. First prizes were therefore awarded both to Miss D. Morton end to Mrft. J; Morley Bell. A brief talk onthectiltura of. pansies was given by the secretary, Mr. R. J. Thornton. At the conclusion of the lecture, th® challengo cups were presented by Mr. W. Wright, vice-chairman of the executive. Mr. Wright also officiated at an informal auction of ■ the cut "Rowers which had been the admiration of all visitors to tho exhibition. The fragrant arafuls wer* gladly borne away by tho fortunate bidders.
