FRUIT CONTROL BOARD.
CHANGE IN LONDON OFFICER TRIBUTES TO MR. C. GRAY. Reference to the retirement «of Mr. C* Gray from the position of London mar-i keting officer for the Fruit Control Board and the appointment of Mr. H. E. Stephens, of Stoke, Nelson, was made at a, meeting of fruitgrowers at Auckland yes* terday. Mr. H. Paltridge, of Henderson, said Mr. Gray had done splendid work for the board during his service of over two years. He had given every attention to fruitgrowers' interests as chairman of thfi board and as marketing officer. Appreciation of Mr. Gray's work was voiced on behalf of the Agricultural De* partment by Mr. P. Everett, orchard in* structor for Thames. Replying, Mr. Gray said his successor was a most able man, who had the interests of the at heart. There was a great deal to be done by the board in England, but firms were already saying New Zealand was the only Dominion which was meeting the requirements ot the trade in an efficient manner. Ho added that, as he was joining a private firm, he would resign his position on the Control Board if growers wished it. It was decided to retain the services of Mr. Gray on the board.
