YACHTING SEASON OPENS.

THIS AFTERNOON'S RACES. Nino clubs will lake part in the official opening of the yachting season on the Waitffrnata Harbour this afternoon. The big keel yachts and the larger cf the centreboard classes and launches will race to Islington Bay, while the smaller classes will sail a harbour course. All the races will start off King's Wharf, tho first event, classes A and B, starting at 2.30. Tho other classes will follow at intervals of eight minutes. Compared with former years the entries are very good, especially in the races for tho big keclors. Rawene, Ariki, Moana and Prize will not bo racing, but apart from these boats tho combined fclass will be represented by ten boats. Classes C and E show a falling off, but all tho centreboard and open-boat classes have entered in fairly large numbers. Among the boats in class M is the Maratea, which will be making her first appearance. Sho is painted blaclf and has been allotted No. 7. No doubt her doings will be watched with interest.
