THAMES BOROUGH COUNCIL.
COMPLETION OF SEWERAGE.
EXPEDITION OF FURTHER LOAN
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] THAMES, Friday.
A request from the proprietors of a skating rink to be permitted to commence sessions at 5 p.m. instead of 7 p.m., was refused by the Borough Council at its meeting last evening, on tjje ground that the noise would interfere with the conduct of business in an adjoining office. The resignation of Mr. J. M. Clarkson, a draughtsman in the engineering department, was accepted as from Saturday, November 12, in order, to permit him to accept the offer of an appointment with the British Phosphate Commission at Nauru Island.
The Medical Officer of Health intimated that ho had urged the expedition of the passage of a supplementary loan for completion of the sewerage in the Tararu area, as the completion of the sewerage work in the Borough of Thames has already been delayed far too long. The engineer reported that a contract had been secured from the Public Works Department to supply 1000 yds of metal from the Waiotahi Quarry, the closing of which had been ordered for November 2.
It was decided to adopt a recommendation from the Finance Committee that the present method of allocating heavy traffic fees be retained.
