SEQUEL TO FATALITY. MOTORIST SENT FOR TRIAL. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] HAWEEA, Friday A plea of not guilty was entered by Walter William Vickery, who was charged in the Magistrate's Court with negligentlydriving a motor-car on the main road near Manaia on June 18, thereby causing the death of a motor-cyclist, Otto Amlehn, who died in hospital on July 4. The prosecution alleged that deceased was knocked down by accused's car, the injuries sustained resulting in his death. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. PETROL WAGGON STRIKES TRAM. DRIVER'S LICENCE CANCELLED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHKISTCHURCH, Friday. " This is a very serious case. Defendant was driving a petrol tank waggon. There was a tram coming in the opposite direction, and the motorman clanged his bell and had practically stopped when defendant collided with v the tram, said Senior-Sergeant Fitzpatrick, when Edward Charles Eskett had pleaded guilty in the Police Court to a charge of negligent driving along tho Riccarton Road. The magistrate imposed a fine of £lO and cancelled defendant's licence until March, 1928.
