LAND SETTLEMENT.
BUSINESS BEFORE LEAGUE. The New Zealand Land Settlement and Development League met on Thursday. The chairman, Mr. W. McArthur, presided. The iiotorua Chamber of Commerce wrote inviting Mr. N. G. Gribble and any other members of the league to visit jßotorua to address a meeting convened by ifre chamber on the work -oi the league.. Mr. H. A. Goudie stated the possibilities in the Jtiotorua district were almost unlimited, and he was assured of good support for the league, if it could assist in giving publicity to the resources available, it was decided to accept the invitation. The pending visit 01 the Secretary of gtate lor the Dominions, Mr. L. S. Amery, was referred to, and it was resolved to set up a committee to draft in detail the matters to be taken up with him. The committee was also instructed to prepare a full statement of the views of the league as to the " order of reference" for the inquiry into land settlement which is contemplated by the Government. It is expected, in terms of a recent letter from the Minister of Lands, that this matter will be discussed by the Cabinet and the league's executive immediately after the close of the present session.
