CHILDREN AND BIBLE.

MORE INSTRUCTION URGED. SITUATION IN BRITAIN. (Received October 11, 5.55 p.m.) Sun. LONDON, Oct. 11. The president of the Assembly of the Congregational Union, Mr. J. C. Meggitt, in his opening address, said that onequarter of the 6,000,000 English and Welsh school children are not receiving religious instruction, except what might be given in day schools and in their homes. Half the school children did not possess a Bible. Increasing numbers were, therefore, left uninstructed in matters relating to religion. The danger of Communism would be increased as a result of these facts, said the speaker. A further alarming factor was the disregard of Sunday as a day of worship, owing to motoring, rail excursions, games and concerts. He deprecated the introduction by Labourites cf political meetings on Sundays.
