HOME FOR VAGRANTS.

SUGGESTED USE OF ROTO ROA FORMER MANAGER'S AGREEMENT [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORHESPONDENT. J CHRISTCHURCH. Fridav The suggestion made by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in Auckland this week, that one-half of the accommodation at the inebriates' home at Roto Roa' Isl&nd should be reserved for men convicted of vagrancy, is supported by Major Haines, officer in charge of the Salvation Army Prison Gate Home at Addington, who was manager at Roto Roa for six and a half years. Major Haines said to-day he did not think any difficulties were likely to arise as a result of mixing inebriates with vagrants. Most of the inebriates were quite decent men onco they had got the drink out of their system, and drink was the cause of the downfall of the great majority of men convicted of vagrancy.
