MORE PAY FOR POLICE.
NEW SOUTH WALES RISE. INCREASE OF £85,000 A YEAR. • The decision of the Lang Government to increase the pay of members of the New South Wales police force by 10s 6d a week will mean that the Treasury will have to find an additional sum of £85,000 a year. ft was officially stated recently that there were 3100 members of the poiice force (constabulary and mounted men) on the pay roll at June 30, and, although there have since been alterations in the personnel owing to retirements, the appointment of probationary constables fias equalised these defections Clerics, such as those employed in the traffic branch, will not be affpeted bv the increase.
