ILL-FEELING DENIED.

"ABSURD AND MISCHIEVOUS." BRITISH OFFICER'S COMMENT. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Oct 6. According to a message sent from Canberra. which appears in the Daily Express, Mr. C. E. W. Bean, who was the official war correspondent for the Commonwealth, has convened a conference of generals in Sydney in order to refute allegations contained in a proof copy of, the War Office history of the Dardanelles' campaign, to the effect that the Anzacs were ill-trained and badly led, and were herded together on the beach while a few adventurous spirits braved the heights. A distinguished officer in London, who was closely with the preparation ot the history of Gallipoli, says it is absurd and mischievous to suggest that there is any ill-feeling or misunderstanding between the Australian and the Home authorities. The proofs of the book were sent t© Australia and New Zealand eariy in the summer. The New Zealand authorities replied that the account was fair and admirable. The Australian .uthorities suggested that one part should be deleted, and this was done after consultation with the High Commissioner for Australia.
