POLICY OF THE SOVIET. REJECTION OF FRIENDSHIP. (British Office! Wireless.) (Received October 7. 7.35 p.m.) A. and N.Z. RUGBY, Oct. 6. Speaking at the conference of the British Labour Party in Blackpool, the leader of the party, Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald, urged the necessity for getting down to realities on the question of an understand ing with Russia. He said: "To those who are always talking of defending Russia I would say the most ineffective way of doing so is to give her ex*cuses for continuing her wrong international policy. Russia has taken no effective step to get into friendly relationship with the States of Europe. Again and again the question has been raised and pressed on ihe Russian Government, but no satisfactory answer has been given." * Mr. Mac Donald said before there was a revision of the Versailles Treaty we must ensure that w r e are safe from tho danger of war." He added: I say to my Russian colleagues, ' Abandon Imperialist ideas, for Imperialism is the attribute not only of Toryism, but also of revolution.' "
