UP-TO-DATE TENNIS KIT.

" A great many people arc going in for socklets this year, though last season they left them to first-class players," writes a London correspondent,- "The idea was realty started by a star, who used to wear one pair of stockings over another, with the top pair roTed down over her ankles, and someone said ' Why not have something made to take the place of the top stockings?' " These socklets are made of fine woo) with a pattern in angora woven into the top, which is worn turned over. They add much to the comfort of the feet when playing, and their wearers also find that they prevent the silk stockings underneath from going into holes so quickly. Eye shields, which originally hailed from America, are being replaced by Tally Ho hats, that have the advantage of fitting comfortably over tho head, instead of gripping around the forehead. 'lhis hat is really an eye shield with a soft silk crown, and the latest design this season has the crown ventilated by having it cut in three sections, and then joined with open stitch. One of the smartest shoes is a sandal model of water snake or python. It has an open front, and a wide white silk lace is laced criss-cross over the instep and tied around the ankle. Strap shoes of lizard skin arc a new thing this year, but they are not so popular as water snake or python. Buckskin is not worn at all nowadays, having been replaced by white kid, which is so much lighter, and white canvas. But a great deal of coloured kid is also worn. Some of the leading players wear white kid shoes with glace kid saddle trimmings in a colour, and carry the same colour through their outfit.
