MORTALITY AMONG LAMBS.
OFFICIAL INVESTIGATION. A heavy and unusual mortality is taking place among the lambs in Otago. The lambs, still with their mothers, have been taking to fresh grass at an early age, apparently preferring solid to liquid nutriment, with the result that they have been dying in large numbers. Mr. B. C. Aston, Chief Chemist of the Department of Agriculture, and Mr. Lyons, head of the Live Stock Division, have proceeded to the district to investigate the matter.
