UNSEAWORTHY BOATS.

FOOLHARDY PERSONS, PREVENTION BEING CONSIDERED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL REPORTER.] WELLINGTON, Friday. "We are seriously considering what can be done to prevent foolhardy persons from going out to sea in unseaworthy boats," said the Minister of Marine, Hon. G. J. Anderson, in the House this afternoon, during the discussion on the Marine Department estimates. Mr. R. McKeen (Wellington South) referred to the loss of a fishing boat from Island Bay recently, and said that ex- I perienced fishermen had described the boat as unseaworthy. He asked whether tha department had any control or powers of inspection of such boats. The Minister said the department had i no control over fishing boats under 10 tons, or over pleasure boats, but it was seriously considering what could be done to prevent foolhardy persons from going out to sea in unseaworthy boats. The community was put to considerable anxiety and expense in connection with these people, who should be restrained from their foolish actions.
