BUILDING PROSECUTIONS.
WARNING BY MAGISTRATE. "While, in the circumstances, I will impose a light penalty in this case, a hijerh penalty should be imposed; it must not go out. to the world that light penalties are being imposed for this class of offence," said Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday, in fining J. Reillv £2 for using timber which had been used before without having a certificate to the effect that it was good timber. On a charge of failing to make application to the County Council for permission to remove part of a building, E. Sheppard was fined £3. The Manukau County Conncil prosecuted in both cases.
