SCHEME TO HELP TRADE. GAZETTING OF REGULATIONS. The Auckland Education Board met yesterday, the chairman, Mr, A. Burnj, pte* riding. A letter was MK#ived from Hi# organiser of the School Children'* Empire Reciprocal Publicity Schema asking for permission to mtahlish the scheme in the Auckland education district. The acheme, which has been successfully launched in the Hawera district, is designed to foster a preference for Empire trade among the school children of England and Now Zealand. It provides for the interchange of letters between tbs school children of the two conntrie#, reference being made in all correa* pondence to the products of th« respective countries. Members expressing approval of the scheme, it was decided to offer no objection to its establishment in the Auckland district. The advisory inspector reported on the question of extending the Newmarket school district in view of a falling-off >b the attendane#. He did not consider sorb n course advisable as, when the new Normal School was opened, none of the surrounding schools would be overcrowded. It was decided to take no action in the matter. Replying to the board's reqnest for ths supply of free stationery in addition 'o free class-books ir. necessitous cases, the department, notified that there was no fund from which it could authorise payment, The chairman suggest ed that *h« board might be able to help in some case* arid the matter was referred to the executive committee. A telegram received from the depart* meat stated that it woedd expedite * decision with regard to the acjninns of * school site between Grey Lynn and Point CftevsHer. The department notified ?hat for the current year a grant of £BOO would he made for incidental expenses at, the Training College, thus alio*trig a reasonable amount for a library and similar purposes.
