RAGLAN BY-ELECTION.

THE REFORM ' CANDIDATE, PARTY MEETING NEXT WEEK. The Dominion organiser for the Reform Party, Mr. D. Hebenton, left last evening for the Raglan electorate to go into matters connected with the forthcoming by-election. Mr. Hebenton hopes to be able early next week to call a meeting of delegates from Reform League branches in the district, the delegates to elect the party's candidate for the seat. A paragraph yesterday referred to Mr. A. Hall Skelton as speaking for the United New Zealand organisation. This was a mistake. Mr. Hall Skelton has no connection with the new party. Ho was speaking for the Liberals when he said his party had almost finalised arrangements for the announcement of a candidate for Raglan. MR. DYNES PULTON'S DECISIOH. WILL NOT RE A CANDIDATE. Strong representations have been made to Mr. Dynes Fulton, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, with a view to persuading him to offer himself as a candidate for the Raglan seat. Mr. Fulton stated yesterday that he had fully considered the proposal, and, while appreciating the promises of support given him, .had decided not to be a candidate. He explained that he could. not contemplate retaining his position as chairman of the dairy company if he were elected to Parliament, and, after" careful consideration, had concluded that he could more effectively serve the interests of the producers in Raglan as chairman of the company than as a member of Parliament. He had been assisted in reaching that decision by the demonstration of confidence in him by the company's shareholders at the recent election of directors and by his re-election to the chairmanship, of the company. A paragraph published yesterday contained a suggestion that Sir. Fulton had not decided which party he would support. This certainly did not represent Mr. Fulton's attitude. He has Jseen for many years chairman of the'late Mr. Bollard's Tuakau committee, and there would not have been any question as to/ which, party he would support.
