AGED WOMAN RUN OVER.
MOTORISTS EXONERATED. EVIDENCE AT THE INQUEST. No evidence of negligence on the part of motorists concerned was found by Mr. W. R- McKean, S.M., coroner, at an inquest yesterday concerning thfe death of Margaret Williams, aged 76, as the result of an accident on August 13. Evidence was given that thres cars were descending College Hill. All were travelling at a moderate speed, about 20 miles an hour. The night was dark and light rain was falling. The woman was not seen by the driver of the first car and was knocked down. The second car had pulled in to the pavement, but the third ran over her. Deceased died before admission to hospital. "Death was due to injuries received through, being knocked down by a motorcar and subsequently run over by another," said the coroner. "Which one actually caused death I am not prepared to say. The speed of the cars was pot excessive. There has been a suggestion that deceased was under the influence of Liquor, but there is nothing to bear out that theory. Certainly, the evidence shows no negligence on the part of the motorists."
