TROUBLE OVER FURNITURE.
ALLEGED THEFT BY HUSBAND [BV TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON NORTH. Thursday. In the Magistrate's Court this morning Andrew McEwen, a middle-aged labourer, was charged on the information of his wife, who is living at Woodvilio, with the theft of certain articles of furniture and clothing, of a total value of £SO.
It was stated m evidence that the parties separated at the end of March, when the wife closed her home at I'almerston North and went to Woodville. When she returned later she found that certain articles had disappeared. Defendant, it was stated, had visited the house with a carter, taking away a kapok mattress. A pawnbroker stated that defendant sold him sundry household effects and articles of jewellery in June. Defendant was committed for trial.
