TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr H. M. Vincent last evening:— Cloudy and unsettled weather, with heavy rain, is indicated, particularly in northern and East. Coast districts. Northerly to north-easterly winds, strong to calo, backing to west. Heavy seas are oxpected along the east coast of tho North Island, especially in areas northward of Napier. The tropical disturbance referred to in yesterday's report has made rapid movement south-eastward, and at 4 p.m. on Monday was centred about 100 miles westward of Whangarei. Barometric pressure is decreasing generally, tho low pressure area impinging closely on the high atmospheric level located on tho east coast of tho North Island. Flooded rivot's are expected in northern areas. Barometer, midnight, falling .. 29.05 in. Midnight. Sunday . . . . 30,15 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—Present indications are for northerly winds, strong to gale, northwards of Kawhia and East Cape, and strong and variable winds elsewhere, with increasing north-easterlies ruling and veering to south-easterlies later. An Unfavourable change may be oxpected with rain generally and heavy rain in tho northern districts as the high pressure system is now moving east of New Zealand and the barometer is likely to fall.
