Owing to the rear right wheel collapsing, a five-seater motor-car, owned by Mr. A. E. Freeman, of Mount Eden, while being driven along May Road, Mount Albert, about 11 o'clock on Saturday night, somersaulted into a ditch and came to rest with its wheels uppermost and pinning the six occupants beneath. Tho motorists were severely bruised, but it was a miracle that grave injuries were not inflicted. The hood of the car was crumpled level with the rim of the tonneau, and the windscreen and radiator cap were sheared off as if by an axe. The dazed motorists experienced no little difficulty in extricating themselves from beneath tho car, but they were rendered timely assistance by tho occupants of passing motors. The accident occurred when the car was passing a community bus. Going over toward the right of tho road to obtain clearance, two wheels of the vehicle encountered a ledge. One wheel struck heavily on somo small boulders and collapsed. Beyond the wrecked wheel, the damage was confined to the body of the car. TRAM AND LORRY COLLIDE. PASSENGER INJURED IN LEG. A collision between a tramcar and a motor-lorry occurred in Eden Terrace shortly after five o'clock on Saturday afternoon. Mr. Arthur Cecil Jamieson, aged 35, of Alexandra Street, Avondale, who was standing on the front platform of the tramcar. received a painful flesh wound in the leg, necessitating his admission to the Auckland Hospital. Neither of tho vehicles was damaged.., LORRY ROLLS DOWN BANK. EIGHT MEN THROWN CLEAR. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN* CORRESPONDENT.] PUKEKOHE, Sunday. A motor-lorry owned by the Franklin Power Board ran over the side of the Great South Road when passing a motor-van, near Mercer, at 5 p.m. on Friday. The lorry rolled a distance of 20ft. down tho bank. Two men were injured and the cab of the lorry was badly smashed. There were eight employees of the Power Board on the lorry, and all were thrown off. Mr. W. Lowe sustained injuries to his wrist and is confined to bed, while Mr. J. Addis suffered severe abrasions. Tho others, including two men in the cab, escaped with a shaking. The lorry was hauled back to the road yesterday and driven to Pukekohe under its own power. The accident occurred at the Mercer end of the new deviation between Pokeno and Mercer.

SERVICE CAR INVOLVED.

LITTLE GIRL SERIOUSLY HURT

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WANGANUI, Sunday. A collision occurred at Turakina yesterday between a motor-car travelling toward Wanganui and a service car en route to Wellington. Mary Jackson, 6 years of age, a passenger in the service car, received injuries necessitating her removal to the Wanganui Hospital. Her condition is serious. Neither vehicle was damaged to any extent. Exaggerated reports of the accident were received in Wanganui and two ambulances were sent out to cope with the reported injured. CAR PLUNGES INTO DITCH. INTOXICATION CHARGE FOLLOWS. [I3Y TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHXJRCH. Saturday. Owing to a motor-car plunging head on into a ditch about sft. deep last evening on the Main North Road, one mile from Kaiapoi, J. Anderson, aged 24, of Papanui, was taken to the Christchurch Hospital, and T. Clough, also of Papanui, was taken to the Kaiapoi Nursing Home. The car, a five-seater, was badly damaged at the front. The occupant of the back seat, Anderson, was thrown forward and received injuries to his head, and Clongh, who was in the front seat, injured by broken glass from the windshield. The driver of the car, Charles Edward Sisson, escaped uninjured. Anderson is reported to be making a satisfactory recovery. In the Magistrate's Court, Kaiapoi, this morning, Sisson was charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car. Ho was remanded to appear on September 7, bail being allowed.

INJURY TO CYCLIST. FRACTURE OF RIGHT LEG. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Sunday. A collision occurred in Victoria Street North, Hamilton, yesterday afternoon, between a motor-car driven by Mr. Samuel Barbour, of Auckland, and a motor-cycle ridden by Mr. Aaron Hope Gate, of Empire Street, Frankton Junction. Mn Gate sustained a fracture of the right leg and had a narrow escape from moro serious injury. He was taken to the Waikato Hospital. The vehicles were not seriously damaged. MOTORIST FOUND UNCONSCIOUS. WRECKED MACHINE NEARBY. [BY TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, Sunday. A motor-car accident occurred in tho city in tho early hours this morning, a local land agent named Paterson being picked up unconscious on the footpath at the corner of Crawford Street and Anderson Bay Road. Mr. Patcison's motorcar, which was in a wrocked condition, was found nearby. No details are available, as the .iniured man was still unconscious to-night.
